Denison Pride was founded in 1988 as the Denison Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Alumni/ae Association (GLBAA). With the help of supportive Denison faculty, several alums organized the group after a multi-class-year alumni Common Hour panel entitled “Out After Denison,” where alums shared our stories of life at and after Denison.
The group has held gatherings for alumni, faculty, administration, staff, friends, and allies virtually every year since 1988 — first on Homecoming Weekend and then on Big Red and Reunion Weekends. The group subsequently added “transgender” to its name to become the GLBTAA and, in 2016, became Denison Pride.
